Picking a bass rod
- Power is how much force bends the rod. Medium-heavy covers most single-hook baits. Go heavy for frogs, flipping and big swimbaits.
- Action is where it bends. Fast and extra-fast suit single hooks and hard hooksets. Moderate actions suit treble-hook baits like crankbaits.
- Length: 7'–7'3" is the versatile range. Longer rods add casting distance and hook-setting leverage, and shorter rods help with accuracy and skipping under docks.
